“… perhaps it will make people stop for a moment and realize how short and precious life is,” said Daniel Romero, 45, of El Paso, TX, who, until this event, seemed to have somehow ignored the most omnipresent characteristic of his species: its mortality.

Simon: After a year of reboots, remakes, prequels, sequels, threequels and The Wolfman, Black Swan has reignited my love for cinema and made me excited for the year ahead.
Michael: Yeah, because there are no sequels coming up in the next year. Just Scream 4, Pirates 4, Mission Impossible 4, Transformers 3, Cars 2, Kung Fu Panda 2, Sherlock Holmes 2, The Hangover: Part 2, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and an X-Men prequel.

Today I learned that the hanzi for “a period of time” is an amalgamation of “her” and “moon”. The characters for “peace” (安) consist of a woman with a roof over her head. It’s supposed to represent “domestic tranquility”, or “your wife in the kitchen”.
Feminists are going to have a field day with this stuff.
